POSITION DESCRIPTION
A national search is being conducted for the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Extension, Engagement and Economic Development and Director, McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education, North Carolina State University.

The McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education (MCE&CE), established by the University in 1924, proactively engages the campus’ knowledge base across disciplines and utilizes other professional expertise in identifying and responding to relevant public needs. MCE&CE includes the Encore Center for Lifelong Enrichment, the McKimmon Conference and Training Center, the Office of Professional Development, the Computer Training Unit, Assessment, Partnership and Program Development, and the Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Extension, Engagement and Economic Development maintains and develops effective working relationships with diverse constituents throughout the University, The University of North Carolina, community colleges, state and local governments, groups and individual citizens. This position contributes and participates as a member of the Extension, Engagement and Economic Development Administrative Team, a high performance management team charged to accomplish the mission of EE&ED.
The Office of Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development (EE&ED) provides leadership and vision for University Extension and Engagement with external communities - including businesses, industries, local and state governments, educational institutions and state agencies, groups, and individuals - that benefit from partnerships and collaborative relationships with NC State University faculty, staff, and students. The Office supports the development and enhancement of appropriate infrastructure to improve access to the educational resources of NC State University.

To accomplish the mission of EE&ED and the MCE&CE unit, the position will have responsibilities including the following:
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop a vision for MCE&CE and provide leadership and ideas for new program development.
- Lead in developing strategies and infrastructure to meet the professional development and continuing education needs across North Carolina.
- Seek and develop partnerships, linkages and collaboration across organizational boundaries that stimulate multi-disciplinary activities and strengthen the continuum between teaching, research and knowledge/technology transfer.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituents.
- Identify ways to stimulate and support faculty participation in outreach and continuing education activities, and work to strengthen faculty recognition and rewards for extension and engagement activities.
- Provide administrative oversight of the functions and activities relating to the McKimmon Center for Extension & Continuing Education (MCE&CE), supervising established programs and related receipts accounts, state appropriated budgets and personnel.
- Assume a lead role with respect to the collection, assimilation and reporting of University-wide noncredit instructional and participant data; responsible for the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) approval process and records, ensuring compliance with the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) criteria.
- Contribute and participate as a member of the Extension, Engagement and Economic Development Administrative Team, a high performance management team charged with accomplishing the mission of EE&ED.
Required Qualifications: Must have a Masters Degree with a minimum of ten years of progressive administrative leadership and management responsibilities with demonstrated professional growth and outcomes in a primarily self-sustaining continuing education/professional development organization.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned Doctorate preferred with a minimum of five years of progressive administrative leadership and management responsibilities with demonstrated professional growth and outcomes in a primarily self-sustaining continuing education/professional development organization.
Applicants should have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of educational program administration, strategic planning, program evaluation and assessment, staff development, budgeting and fiscal accountability, personnel supervision, contracts and grants acquisition and management, relationship building, and the design and delivery of innovative noncredit professional development programs addressing targeted needs.
