Duong, Green, and Gharst Food Science Leadership Award Endowment

To recognize students exemplifying outstanding future potential and initiative who are studying Food, Bioprocessing or Nutrition Sciences at North Carolina State University. Dr. Gregory A. Gharst (bachelor’s 1994, master’s 2004 and Ph.D. 2007, BS in Biological Sciences, MS and Ph.D. in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences) wishes to establish an endowed award in the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation, Inc. The award will be used to recognize promising students majoring in any area of Food, Bioprocessing or Nutrition Sciences at North Carolina State University. With the creation of this endowment, Gharst is also honoring his student peers, Dr. Tri Duong and Dr. Rodney Green. Dr. Gregory A. Gharst holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Food Science from North Carolina State University. Dr. Tri Duong holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Functional Genomics from North Carolina State University. Dr. Rodney J. Green, B.S. (Purdue ’02), M.S. (NCSU ’04), and Ph.D. (Purdue ’08), is currently a Senior Food Scientist with ConAgra Foods at their headquarters in Omaha, NE.
