History

Formerly the Mission Valley Motel, these upscale dormitories, that are critically located between the original and centennial campuses, were purchased by NC State. As with North Residence Hall, NC State faced the challenge of converting commercial property into student dormitories. The Skillet Restaurant, two motor hotels, and an enclosed pool building were renovated and converted to serve campus needs. The former restaurant is now the Magnolia Cottage Conference Center. The hotels are six-story, corridor-style halls with air-conditioning, cable TV access, microfridge units, computer connections and bathrooms in each room, and elevators.
