ES King Village, originally called the Married Student Housing Development, was renamed for Edward S. King, general secretary of the YMCA from 1919 to 1959, in the 1970s. It is a 295-unit apartment community (efficiency, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units), serving NC State's married, graduate, and non-traditional undergraduate students.
With a diverse multicultural environment, residents have the opportunity to experience the world in their own backyard. At ES King Village, community and convenience combine in an environment that nurtures academic success and provides for the needs of both students and families. The apartments are within easy access to Wolfline (campus bus) and city bus stops, within walking distance of grocery stores, a post office, restaurants, and zoned to a quality elementary school. Free high speed Internet and cable TV is provided in every apartment. There are programs and activities for students, spouses, and children sponsored by the staff and Village Council. Recreational areas, playground equipment, and a new ES King Village Commons building (pictured above) support the community atmosphere. For more information about apartment availability, visit the housing website.
