This amazing building completed construction in 2003. Named in honor of Rose Hill native, Wendell H. Murphy, this is a state of the art facility, in which NC State football operations reside. The structure took approximately two years to build. The construction site was active over the course of one full football season. The building was the second phase of a four phase renovation improvement project for Carter-Finley Stadium.
The Murphy Football Center is located behind the south end zone, and spans the entire width of the football field. The building has been referred to as the best football facility in the country. Inside you will find the Wolfpack "Hall of Champions", a theatre, a full sports medicine component, including whirl pools, an underwater treadmill, cafeteria, player's lounge, academic support, locker rooms, coaches offices, player conference rooms, television studio, and more. The weight room spans the entire length of the building.
A dramatic "Wolfpack Turf" sculpture creates a iconic symbol of the university, and marks the entrance to the Murphy Center. A pack of wolves prowls atop a twenty-one foot tall stone mountain. The sculpture is the creation of former Wolfpack football player and accomplished wildlife artist Dick Idol.
