In all cases, additional tabs or seals may be used. For more detailed information please visit the USPS website- http://pe.usps.com/FRN/Booklets.pd

Sealing
Automatic sealing of standard size gummed envelopes, with flap located at the top of the envelope is provided for by Mail Services when applying postage.

Packaging
Good, rigid, used boxes with all flaps intact are acceptable. If a box of the desired size cannot be found, a larger one may be cut down. Bend the four sides over the articles that have been cushioned in the box and close and band. Boxes with difficult loads to out-of-town destinations must be reinforced with banding about every 8 inches in each of the two directions around the package. Parcels exceeding 70 pounds or 108 inches (when length and girth are added together) are not mailable through the Postal Service.
