Recycle Volunteer email list We staff our trucks with around 20 volunteers each game. Volunteers ride on the two trucks, which cruise through the stadium parking lots and collect cans and bottles from the tailgaters. We usually meet a few hours before the game and work through kick-off. Every volunteer receives a ticket into the game, parking pass, W.E. Recycle t-shirt, water bottle and koozie. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ryan Powell at 515-9881 or email him at ryan_powell@ncsu.edu. Responsibilities: Volunteers have it pretty easy this season! We're only responsible for collecting recyclables on the W.E. Recycle. Volunteers ride on the back or walk beside the trucks while collecting cans and bottles from the tailgaters. We have lots of playful chants and rhymes we yell to the fans as we are driving by to lull them into a recycling frenzy. In return for recycling 5 cans or bottles, we give fans a W.E. Recycle drink Koozie. (They love this! You will be bombarded for koozies- but if it gets them to recycle, it’s worth it!) When the back of the truck is full- volunteers will help empty the material into a large roll-off dumpster designated for recyclables. We have a great time! At about 15 minutes prior to kick-off (during the most crowded entrance times) we will post at least one volunteer at each gate. The purpose is to assist the fans in the midst of chaos and direct them to place their recyclables in the blue bins that line the entrances. Volunteers will stay at the gates until 10-15 minutes after kick-off when the crowds begin to die down. At this point, you are free to enter the game and your responsibilities are finished. back to top Where and when to meet prior to the game: From campus- Turn onto Sullivan Dr. from Dan Allen. Make a right onto Motorpool Dr. just before reaching Gorman St. Continue straight and park in the first parking lot on your right. The Landscape Services building is the one to the left as you entered. We will be in the parking lot. From off campus: Turn onto Sullivan Drive from Gorman Street. Make your first left onto Motorpool Dr. Continue straight and park in the first parking lot on your right. The Landscape Services building is the one to the left as you entered. We will be in the parking lot. We usually meet between 3-4 hours prior to game time. Because game times are not always decided until the last minute and change from game to game, we will set the meeting time and relay it via email. back to top Important things to remember: You will need transportation to and from the stadium from campus. Lots of times there will be people who can carpool- but just remember to arrange to get back to campus or your car after the game. Wear something that you don’t mind getting dirty that is comfortable and cool. We will be out in the sun and you will be helping empty recyclables, so plan to be a bit sticky. Remember, we will provide you with a W.E. Recycle t-shirt to put on when you get here.We ask that you do not partake in any alcoholic beverages while volunteering. As soon as your duties are done- you are free to do as you please. No one is allowed to drive the trucks except University employees. If you are a university employee and are interested in driving you will need to check with Ryan first.
