College of Veterinary Medicine researchers are studying the similarities between tumors in canines and humans.

We count on our canine friends for a lot. Friendship, companionship, even safety. Now, as the study of animal diseases continues to show promise for improving human health, we can appreciate our dogs for something more: the physiological similarities we share. At the College of Veterinary Medicine, faculty are studying the benefits of high-energy radiation therapy for tumor treatment in dogs. If the therapy shows some benefit in animals, it likely will be successful in treating human cancers.
