Students gathered on Tucker/Owen beach after their first day of classes to enjoy food and games sponsored by the Inter-Residence Council, the InterFraternity Council and the Panehellenic Sororities.
Tuesday of Wolfpack Welcome Week saw a wide variety of events across campus. From individual colleges welcoming back students to new transfer students trading in their former school's swag and getting new NC State shirts, it was the busiest of days.
NC State football fans and players met face-to-face Saturday, Aug. 13, at Carter-Finley Stadium during Meet the Pack Day. A part of Wolfpack Welcome Week 2011, the event gave fans an opportunity to interact with members of the Wolfpack football team and coaching staff.
The Talley Student Center Project groundbreaking ceremony took place on the north side of the original building as the chancellor and student leaders spoke about this exciting project that will transform Talley into a vibrant hub for student activities.
Incoming NC State University freshmen joined university leaders, current students and family members who preceded them at NC State at the Legacy Luncheon on Saturday, Aug. 13. Sponsored by the NC State Alumni Association, the luncheon featured a pinning ceremony for freshmen and a performance by the NC State Marching Band, the "Power Sound of the South."
NC State University students got a sneak peek at the full range of activities available to them on campus during the Campus Crawl on Monday, Aug. 15. At kiosks and information tables stretched across central campus, campus organizations offered information and prizes to students.
Need a hand? NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson offered one Saturday morning, Aug. 13, circling campus to help students and their families unpack for the new academic year.
The NC State campus roared back to life with the return of the Wolfpack last weekend. Thousands of students, accompanied by family and friends, moved into residence halls for the fall semester.

Students, faculty, staff and families participated in the Collaborative Greek Council’s Disk Golf Tournament on Centennial Campus’ scenic nine-hole disc golf course. Teams of four played a “superball” style format as they vied for top honors. Proceeds from the event benefited Stop Hunger Now, a global hunger relief organization.
