Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford announced Friday that three NC State student-athletes, including senior gymnast Brittany Vontz, have been selected to receive the Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, given to student-athletes who have performed with distinction in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
NC State has accepted a bid to play No. 22 West Virginia in the 2010 Champs Sports Bowl at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando on Dec. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with a limited allocation of tickets currently available to Wolfpack Club members and NC State fans.

Members of the Wolfpack family gathered at the new Coaches' Corner on Tuesday afternoon to remember the late Kay Yow and dedicate a bronze sculpture in her honor. The idea to memorialize Yow - NC State's women's basketball coach for 34 years - grew out of a student suggestion during campus elections.
N.C. native Debbie Yow has been named director of athletics at NC State. Yow - sister of the late Kay Yow, who coached the university's women's basketball program for 34 years, and former Wolfpack All-American Susan Yow - joins NC State after 16 years as director of athletics at the University of Maryland, where the athletic program garnered 20 national championships under her leadership.
