NC State landscape architecture students have left their mark on the university campus.
Although no university had ever won the Urban Land Institute's national design competition on its first attempt, a team of grad students fielded by NC State had ideas of doing just that. And when the dust settled, the quintet's family-centered plan earned top honors, rising above 116 entries - including those from Ivy-League heavyweights Penn and Harvard.
NC State professor Art Rice has traveled the world spreading the language of design, and he was only arrested once. Rice - one of the founders of the university's Prague Institute - says the field of landscape architecture will continue to grow and evolve as new challenges arise, and strongly encourages his students to make travel a part of their NC State experience and education.
