Russell Wilson's late father always told him that there is a king in every crowd, looking to make sure he did things properly. Few people have had more attention on them - and handled it with more poise - than Wilson, the 2010 Champs Sports Bowl MVP, honor student and star baseball player.
The competition was fierce at a local retail store, where members of the NC State football team took time out from bowl preparations to stuff shopping carts in a quest to become the team's top shopper for the Marines' Toys for Tots program. In just 45 minutes, players snagged more than $24,000 in toys to give to children in need.
NC State has accepted a bid to play No. 22 West Virginia in the 2010 Champs Sports Bowl at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando on Dec. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with a limited allocation of tickets currently available to Wolfpack Club members and NC State fans.
