With the economy on everyone's mind, NC State's Mike Walden has created a monthly index that forecasts how North Carolina's economy will perform over the next four to six months. Walden is a William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at NC State.




Glad to the Bone

A Siberian husky with a missing foot will get his first chance to run in the snow thanks to a custom-made prosthetic from NC State. Dr. Denis Marcellin-Little, professor of orthopedic surgery, and a team of NC State engineers and surgeons are providing him a custom-made, osseointegrated implant that will replace a faulty wrist joint and front paw.




Senior Superlatives

NC State graduating seniors Justin Michael Boucher, Kristy Craig, Jeffrey Johnson and Marycobb Randall were honored with the Mathews Medal, named for Walter J. Mathews, the first student enrolled at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1889.




A Legacy of Service

A former state Extension Service director, a textiles industry leader and the president of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation received the prestigious Watauga Medal for distinguished service to NC State at the university's Founders' Day dinner, held Monday, March 7.

All-Around Champions

Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford announced Friday that three NC State student-athletes, including senior gymnast Brittany Vontz, have been selected to receive the Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, given to student-athletes who have performed with distinction in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
