Selection Criteria

As a catalyst for leadership development, The Caldwell Fellows identifies young people with the interest in and potential to develop into servant leaders. Students should contribute to the program's pursuit of excellence during their undergraduate years and as alumni and demonstrate a passion to lead a life of greatness. Selection into the program is based upon the following five selection criteria:

  • Strong academic performance (minimum 3.25 GPA to apply). Rigor of coursework is considered.
  • Leadership with a history of involvement in school or community activities, along with a goal of personal growth, particularly in the area of leadership development. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to understand and apply concepts of leadership and ethics and a willingness to critically examine their own lives.
  • Orientation toward community and service, rooted in self-awareness as a member of broader communities. Applicants should exhibit an active commitment to responsible stewardship and a desire to help address community issues through participation and service.
  • Commitment to personal and physical challenge as well as growth. Applicants must want to grow as leaders by seeking out new experiences, gaining new skills, and making a commitment to ongoing self-discovery and personal development.
  • Understanding of and interest in the program and commitment to maximizing the program's opportunities as an undergraduate and alumni.
