NC State 2011 Family of the Year Our families provide for our basic needs: food, clothing and shelter. But they go way beyond that. Good families bring love and joy to our lives. They nurture us by supporting us and challenging us. They give us the strength and wisdom to go beyond the family to contribute to the lives of others, and, for that reason, they are the basic building blocks of our society. NC State recognizes that without families, great institutions are not possible. NC State needs families to send students prepared to meet the challenge of a higher education (not to mention help to pay the bills). Additionally, students continue to rely on the support of their families as they meet the challenges of preparing for life after college. The NC State Parents & Families Association wants to honor all NC State families by recognizing a "Family of the Year." 2011 marks the thirteenth anniversary of this award! The family of the year will remind the NC State community that loving relationships and mutual support are important institutional values. The hope is that this award will help make NC State one of the most welcoming Universities anywhere. Here is your chance to honor your family with a nomination for this year's NC State Family of the Year competition. Simply write an essay of no more than 800 words, which specifies why your family is a great NC State family. If, based on your essay, we judge your family as the family of the year, you will receive:
