Q.Who can I talk to about financial aid?

A. The Office of Financial Aid (FAO) is located at 2005 Harris Hall and is the place to receive financial aid information and forms. The counselors in the FAO offer individual guidance to students and their parents and conduct workshops on applying for aid. If you have a question or need assistance with any part of the financial aid process, call (919) 515-2421 The FAO awards aid to students based on financial need and administers or coordinates the following programs:

• Federal Pell Grant
• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity
• Grant NC Student Incentive Grant,
•Federal Family Educational Loan Programs Federal Stafford,
• Federal Unsubsidized Stafford
• Federal Plus Loan for Parents
• Federal Perkins Loan Program
• Federal Work Study Program
• And a limited number of need based scholarships and grants.

In addition to these major aid programs, there are other sources of aid on and off campus. When awarding aid, the FAO takes into account awards which students receive from these sources.

Q. When will my student receive his/her financial aid?

A. Generally, funds from financial aid distributions are available on the first day of classes each semester. To ensure prompt distribution, the Financial Aid Office suggests that students be sure all paperwork is submitted before deadlines, allowing for timely university and lender processing.
