Fall
* 2001

A
Letter from the Annual Fund
A warm welcome to
the family members of our entering freshmen, the Class of 2005. I hope
you and your student find the NC State experience challenging, rewarding
and full of good surprises. To those of you who have made it through your
student’s first year, congratulations! I know you’re looking forward to
this fall semester.
Like most parents,
you’ve probably been involved in many kinds of fund-raising activities
during your student’s school years. Maybe your school sold fruit or cookies
... and who could forget wrapping paper! Now, as an NC State parent, you’ll
again have a chance to help with fund raising, but this time it will be
much easier than peddling chocolate bars door-to-door.
Each year the NC
State Parents Fund helps fund a university-wide project that directly
benefits current students. Past gifts have supported tutoring and career
planning programs, the Virtual Advising Center and Hill of Beans, a coffeehouse
for our library. This year, the Parents Fund will again be supporting
the Office of Student Affairs. Student Affairs is integral to a student’s
NC State experience. This vital office includes:
Career Planning and
Placement; Academic Enrichment Center; Intramural activities; Leadership,
Ethics and Service office; Health and safety education programs; and,
Parents and Families Services.
These are but a few of the offerings to help every student excel at NC
State and later in life. How can you participate? By making a gift! There
are three easy ways to do that: The easiest of all is to call me at 800-258-1057
and charge your gift to your MasterCard or Visa. You may detach the pledge
card above and return it with your gift. Or, you may want to speak with
an NC State student who will call and ask you to make a gift or a pledge
to the Parents Fund. However you choose to take part, your gift is appreciated!
I do hope you’ll join other NC State parents in supporting the Parents
Fund. It’s a great way to make the NC State experience even better for
all students. Thanks for your support, and best wishes to you and your
NC State student!
