Student organizations are an important part of the rich campus environment
at NC State University. There are arts groups, academic organizations
and honor societies, service organizations, and social organizations.
Out-of-class experiences are encouraged because they involve students in
the campus community and develop citizenship and cultural awareness.
Interpersonal communication skills and leadership experience can be enhanced
by becoming a part of a campus organization. Students who are involved
in the life of the University are typically more satisfied with their college
experience, and, as a result, college retention rates are enhanced by this
involvement.
Of course, there is an element of "buyer beware" when joining a student
organization. The majority of the registered student organizations
listed here are private, voluntary associations and are not official components
of the University. NC State can offer no guarantees about the quality
of their programming.
Registered student organizations are permitted to reserve on-campus
meeting space, hold fund-raisers on campus, request funding from the Student
Senate, and link the organization's homepage to the University’s web.
To register a campus organization, contact the Student Organization
Resource Center in 1201 Talley Student Center.
