Learning beyond the classroom

You don’t have to live in Raleigh to take advantage of NC State’s academic offerings. Even if you live halfway around the world, NC State offers over 25 degree and certification programs through its Distance Education Program. Students outside the traditional classroom can take credit and non-credit Web-based courses remotely. Customized, face-to-face instruction at off-campus locations is also available to members of business and industry, government agencies and other organizations.

NC State’s Distance Education programs and courses are open to degree and non-degree students and include offerings from the colleges of Agricultural & Life Sciences, Design, Education, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management, Natural Resources, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Textiles, and Veterinary Medicine, enabling students to obtain complete degrees via distance learning or to meet specific curriculum needs. Explore the distance education options open to you on NC State’s Distance Learning website, which contains listings of available certificates, subject specializations, undergraduate and graduate courses, and degree programs.

If your studies or internship have taken you abroad, there’s no need to worry about getting behind. Some individual NC State colleges maintain specialized distance learning programs to help undergraduate and graduate students away from school keep up with all their coursework. Visit each college website for more information about these options.

The world of technology

Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA) ensure academics at NC State are accessible by all whenever the need arises. DELTA integrates and supports learning technologies in NC State’s academic programs, both on campus and at a distance. With academic programs more accessible to the state—and world—through expanded distance education, faculty, staff and students can collaborate in a virtual classroom environment, applying expertise in technology and pedagogy in an efficient, effective, and service-oriented environment.

Delivery formats for NC State Distance Education courses include Web-based, online courses; DVD and CD-ROM, media-based formats; cable television; interactive video; customized, on-site classes. The delivery format and course management system for each course can be found in its course catalog listing. Students can find information about distance education; access coursework through Vista, WolfWare, WebAssign or Elluminate; learn web development tools; and find a job at DELTA.
