Personal Information:
I am a New England native, born and raised in Providence, RI (the smallest state in New England, and the country for that matter!). I left Providence to attend school in Boston, MA. After almost a decade of living in Boston, and seeing 3 Superbowl championships (GO PATS) and the first World Series championship in 87 years (GO SOX), I decided it was time for a change. Even though it is home and I should have been used to it, I was so sick of the SNOW! It was as if every year the blizzards were getting worse. So, to escape the Nor’easters that were coming more and more frequently, I packed up my dog Cleveland and headed down the coast to NC.
Prior to working at NC State, I worked Northeastern University first as a staff assistant in the College of Arts and Sciences in the Academic Advising office, then as the Academic Assistant. While working in the advising office, I decided to go to Graduate School, where I studied College Student Development and Counseling. I was able to use my work as a way of learning and helping me develop as an adviser. During my studies, I taught a College Intro class to Undecided freshman which I enjoyed because it gave me the opportunity to assist students in finding the right course of study in addition to helping them transition from high school to college. During my graduate studies I also worked as a graduate assistant in the Study Abroad office at NU where I assisted and supported students interested in the programs of study outside the country.
I am excited about being at NC State, and in particular, the First Year College. I look forward to working with the students and helping in their professional and personal development.
