Muhirwa
Nyira Lucy Muhirwa

My name is Nyira Lucy Muhirwa. My family is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Coming to America was a big struggle because I had to learn how to adjust myself to the new culture. My father lives in Africa. As the oldest child I was automatically required to run my family while at the same time live the ordinary life of a teenager. My life experiences have formed me to become the person I am today. Joining ROTC taught me leadership and created a desire in me to impact the community. Helping my mother raise my younger siblings has taught me patience and also allowed me to watch my mother struggle and therefore gave me the mentality to aim for success. All in all I’ve grown to become a person not afraid of challenges and ready to make a positive impact on my community. My first year at NCSU as a first year college student has helped in orienting me to become someone who achieves excellence in all that I do.

Gladziszewski
Billy Gladziszewski

I was born in Dallas, Texas but moved to Charlotte, North Carolina before my first birthday and have lived there ever since. I went to South Mecklenburg High School and now I am at NC State working towards a degree in Business Management with a minor in French. I am involved with the
French Club, the Honors Program, and I work in the Cooperative Education Office. The First Year College program has really helped me decide what I wanted to study and I look forward to working with the program this coming year as a Resident Mentor.
