Is FYC Right for you?
First Year College is looking for students who are:
- Considering different majors at NC State, AND
- Interested in exploring all of their options in order to make a wise decision.
While the average NC State student switches majors 3 times, FYC students only change majors 0.6 times thereby shortening the time to graduation. In fact, FYC students graduate as fast or faster than their peers who start directly in a major.
If you're interested in Exploring your options, Engaging in everything NC State has to offer, and Excelling academically, socially, and personally; then FYC is for you.
"FYC gave me time to ensure I was going to choose a major that I would not need to change later, which might delay graduating in four years."
"I felt like I knew more about the university’s policies than other students not in FYC"
"My advisor was extremely helpful and made sure his students understood university policies and procedures. He took time with us individually to explore and discuss our future plans. I would recommend FYC to any incoming students who were undecided as to what they wanted to major in."
- Comments from the May 2008 Graduating Senior Survey
