| Bio: | Dr. Atkin has lived in New York state, Southern California, and Chicago. Before coming to NC State she taught writing, American literature, and women's studies at Wake Forest University. She enjoys travel, hiking, cooking, and gardening; likes arguing about politics and movies; and is a passionate reader. She recommends that you read Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Dreams," Norman MacLean's "A River Runs Through It," and Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried." She is married with one child, has a large and rambunctious extended family, and also tries to keep up with a manic cat. Dr. Atkin enjoys working at FYC because First year students are at an important transition point in their lives. They are open to possibilities, full of energy, and a lot of fun! |
