Education:

MS in Education- Elmira College
BS in Chemical Engineering- Cornell University

Bio:

I joined the FYC staff in January 2003. The path that I traveled to NC State and my current career has had many interesting re-routings, rest stops, and scenic detours! Along the way I’ve worked as a chemical engineer with Corning, Inc., discovered a love of gardening, earned a lifetime membership in the NC PTA, and become a wife and mother.

I grew up just north of New York City and went to college and later settled in beautiful, but rather chilly, upstate NY. A job transfer for my husband, Houston, brought us to Greensboro, NC, where I began my advising and teaching career at UNCG. I’m now thoroughly spoiled by the warm weather and long growing season here in North Carolina! Besides digging in the dirt, I enjoy long walks, trying new recipes, camping, puzzles, yoga, the performing arts, and spending time with my family. I live in a green-built, passive solar home on a pretty hillside in Chapel Hill.We were inspired to design and build our home after visiting the NCSU Solar House in 2001!

As an FYC adviser, I hope to learn what inspires my students, and I am thrilled to be a part of the exciting journey that they are just beginning!
