First Year College is pleased to have the support and input provided by parents & families of our current students and alumni. We also benefit from various leaders in our state and national community who work to support our efforts to develop students who explore, engage, and excel here at NC State University.

CALLING ALL FYC PARENTS!!

The Parent Leadership Network (PLN) is seeking 10 more volunteers to help plan PLN events.

The first PLN meeting of the 2011-2012 academic year is scheduled for Tuesday October 11 in the FYC Commons building from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. We will focus on PLN’s role in upcoming FYC events such as University Open House in the fall semester and Academic Networking in the spring semester. Join us in person or via Skype and take an active role in supporting FYC’s mission of Explore, Engage, Excel!

PLN supports FYC during Friends and Families Weekend (Friday, September 30 – Sunday, October 2). Don’t miss the breakfast reception hosted by FYC Administration, PLN, and FYC Student Ambassadors on Saturday morning, October 1 from 9:00 am 11:00 am in the FYC Commons building. This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with friends from New Student Orientation. There will be a question and answer session with FYC Administration. PLN will host a panel discussion focusing on their FYC experience and how different families handle the transition from high school to college. We need 3-4 parent volunteers to participate on the panel. If you’re interested in sharing your experiences, tips, tricks, and resources with FYC parents, please contact us know by September 28.

Do you have an hour or two free on Saturday morning, October 15? Why not come to campus and volunteer with PLN during University Open House? For this event, PLN needs 4-5 volunteers to help direct prospective FYC families to information sessions, talk with guests while they’re waiting, answering questions and offering insights. University Open House is a great time to share your FYC pride! If you want to find out more about PLN’s role in this campus-wide event, please contact us by October 13.
