First Year College Immersion Spring Break
March 1st - 8th 2013
Don't have any plans for Spring Break? Interested in doing service work,
hanging out with 9 other FYC students and 2 awesome advisors, and exploring
the state of North Carolina? We have just the opportunity for you!
The First Year College's Immersion Spring Break trip is a 8 day trip across
the state of North Carolina. Together with approximately 10 First Year
College students and 2 academic advisors, students will explore the North
Carolina culture, diversity, and geography. This week will expose our
students not only to the various geographic regions of the state, but also
various populations that make up North Carolina's history and present
community including people of color, veterans, women, underprivileged, and
working-class. Our week-long journey will provide our students the
opportunity to explore North Carolina, engage in issues facing the diverse
North Carolina populations, and excel in service learning.
Opportunities to bond both within the van, as well as on the day-trips,
will be interspersed with group and written reflection each day to make
this experience a truly experiential learning trip. The advisors value the
small group experience this trip will provide students. Students will not
only establish community with one another and engage in service learning,
but also have a ton of fun!
The entire experience will cost students only $100 and a positive attitude! The $100 for the week includes food, lodging, transportation, admission to
locations, and unlimited fun!
