Activity # 1: (RESEARCHING) Peruse newspapers, magazines, and other resources
for current events that reflect the conflicts the Logans faced in the novel.
Discuss how these conflicts in our society are or are not being resolved.
Compare/contrast these "resolutions" to the outcomes in the book.
Activity # 2: (ART) Injustice is a theme of this novel. Create a photo
essay that illustrates injustice in our society. Take photographs of either
natural or staged instances of injustice. (Photos do not need to include
people.) Display the photos in a logical order on a stiff board background,
and include captions under each photograph (no other text needed). Your
photos should deliver your message.
Activity # 3: (WRITING) Write a journal entry from the viewpoint of either
Cassie or Stacey in response to T.J.'s involvement with the Simms brothers
and what happened to T.J. as a result of this involvement.
