Summer Research Experience Program




NC State AGEP, Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate, offers a summer research experience that targets sophomores, juniors, and seniors from underrepresented groups who desire to earn a PhD in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and certain social sciences. With a focus on inspiring participants to pursue academic careers, the AGEP Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (SRE) concentrates on training and mentoring by offering research experiences, professional development seminars, and GRE classes. This program ended in 2009.

Major components of AGEP Undergraduate SRE:
- Ten weeks of hands-on 40-hour-a-week research experience with nationally renowned faculty
- Weekly professional development seminars
- FREE GRE Preparatory Course through Kaplan
- FREE Room and Board
- $4000 Stipend (We DO take out taxes)
- Participation in NC State's Summer Research Symposium where you will present your research in poster form
Eligibility Requirements:
- Sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior at accredited undergraduate institution
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 3.2 or higher GPA

- Two letters of recommendation from professors
- Transcript of your grades
