Visit NC State Day!!




**THE DEADLINE TO APPLY HAS PASSED**
The purpose of Visit NC State Day is to encourage talented undergraduates from underrepresented groups to pursue the Ph.D. in any discipline. Participants will have the opportunity to tour NC State's campus and discuss their interests with faculty and graduate students. Visit NC State Day is sponsored by the NSF Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) and the NC State Graduate School. To apply, click here.
The program aims to provide students the opportunity to:
- Become familiar with the various program offerings at NC State;
- Interact with research faculty, graduate students and administrators; and
- Experience a research and graduate education environment.
The AGEP program will cover overnight accommodations (both nights) for undergraduates who are:
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Interested in pursuing a PhD
- Have a 3.2 GPA or higher
- From outside the Raleigh-Durham area, and
- Agree to share a double room.
Mileage will be reimbursed for such participants driving to NC State from outside the Raleigh-Durham area. There is also a very limited amount of funding for airfare. All meals on the agenda below are covered by the NC State Graduate School.

The Dinner provides an opportunity for all participants to informally meet each other, NC State graduate students, the AGEP Program Director and other graduate school administrators.
- Welcome - Alison Al-Baati, AGEP Director, NC State Graduate School
- "Making Yourself Competitive for and Funding Graduate School" Given by Dr. David Shafer, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School, this presentation will discuss the graduate application process and provide hints on how to make graduate applications competitive as well as provide information about how to fund your graduate school career.

8:30am - 9:00am - Continental Breakfast - Vans will pick students up at hotel at 8:15 and 8:30 and bring students to Talley Student Ballroom.
9:00am - 9:30am - Welcome and Orientation - Dr. Duane Larick, Dean of The Graduate School
9:30am - 12:00pm - Meetings with Faculty and Graduate Student Representatives - Students will meet with faculty and graduate students in their department or program of interest.
12:15pm - 2:00pm - Lunch
- Keynote Speaker - Dr. Jose Picart, Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, NC State University
- Closing Remarks - Alison Al-Baati, AGEP Program Director, The Graduate School, NC State
