In the Spring of 1998, the Dean of the Graduate School at that time, Dr. Debra Stewart, appointed a committee to provide recommendations to the Graduate School on how to build a research ethics program at NC State. Chaired by Dr. Tom Reagan, Professor, Dept. of Philosophy, the committee made valuable recommendations for the development a strong program at NC State that would educate students and faculty on the responsible conduct of research. The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services "promotes integrity in biomedical and behavioral research supported by the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) at about 4,000 institutions worldwide". Their website provides links to RCR resources divided into three groups: new resources, RCR programs and RCR resources by topic.

The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) has a major initiative to "enhance the training of graduate students in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)". The resources on the CGS site include links to websites for institutions who have developed RCR programs under CGS/ORI awards.

The OpenSeminar in Research Ethics online community based at NCSU contains an extensive database of research ethics resources, both print and online. The online resources include case studies, Research Ethics Centers, readings, online tutorials and other resources on research ethics topics and can be accessed directly from the online community. Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University Borrowing Library contains a listing of Ethics on Loan materials currently available in various media formats.

The NC State College of Management Business Ethics Case Competition "provides students a chance to test their skills while assessing and responding to current business ethics and social responsibility issues".
