Aerial Pictures of Greek Village

Release Date: 2009-06-01
Contact: John Mountz

Construction of Greek Village Phase 1 continues with almost all of the underground utilities and services having been installed. The contractor has begun staking out for curb and gutter which will be followed by the installation of the first concrete curbing in early June. This work will begin to visually define the new streets and parking areas that border the four building lots in Phase 1. If the weather cooperates, something that it has not done throughout this very rainy spring season, the contractor will then lay the foundation stone for the new roads and parking lots in mid to late-June.

In the meantime, many people have asked about the size and scope of a project that is difficult to visualize from the ground. We have begun taking aerial photos of the project and will begin posting them on a regular basis. These photos show the project from a variety of directions, with the Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Kappa and Pi Beta Phi houses visible in several shots for reference points. You can also see how the project abuts University Housing's Western Manor apartments and the private townhouses in Champion Court. Phase 1 of the project encompasses approximately 13.5 acres with the entire Greek Village Project being about 50 acres. These aerial pictures truly show the scale of this project and future pictures will begin to show how the new area will relate to the existing houses and road network.
