Sigma Nu Starts Construction

Posted: 2013-01-28

Construction crews have started digging footers for the new Sigma Nu fraternity house in Greek Village.  The Beta Tau House Corporation of Sigma Nu Fraternity was the first NC State alumni group to commit to the Greek Village project in 2007 and they selected Lot #1 which sits almost exactly on the spot of their original Fraternity Court house constructed in 1963.  The new house will sleep 37 men and includes a commercial kitchen to provide full meal service for the entire chapter membership.  There will also be an alumni room and dedicated recreational and educational spaces within the house.  Site preparation and initial foundation work should be complete in 30 days then switch to steel and concrete installation for the first floor of the building.  Constuction is schedule to be completed in December 2013 so the undergraduate chapter can move into the house for the start of classes in January 2014.

The 21,000 square foot house was designed by Sigma Nu alumnus Eddie Gontram and his firm Gontram Architecture of Raleigh.  Omega Construction from Pilot Mountain is the general contractor with financing provided by Paragon Bank of Raleigh.
