Greek Village Move-In

Posted: 2014-08-04

Move-In Details for Greek Village

Are you ready?  The start of the fall semester is just a few weeks away! We are excited to welcome you back to NC State.  Contained in this email are a few important details that you need to know before returning to campus.  Please take the time to review these details.

  1. Move-In
  2. Your Assignment
  3. Parking
  4. Laundry
  5. Cable and Internet
  6. Early Move-In Requests
  7. Cancellation

All houses will open officially on Sunday, August 10 at 10 a.m. Check-in is available until 5 p.m. with your Chapter Resident Advisor (CRA).  If you plan to arrive outside of that time frame, you should contact your CRA to schedule an appointment to get your keys and complete your room inspection report.  All opening and closing dates for the academic year are posted online.  Please note: Kappa Delta and Sigma Nu dates may vary from this calendar.  Because Greek Village opens one week prior to the residence halls, our break schedule does not match this calendar.  Please be aware of the break times for Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break, and plan your travels accordingly.

Your Assignment

The room you are assigned to live in for the fall semester can be viewed through MyPack Portal. Visit for more information. Each room will be set with a bad, mattress, desk, chair, and dresser by occupancy (i.e. singles will have one set, triples will have three sets, etc.).  This furniture must remain in the room throughout the year. No storage is available. No removal is allowed.

All parking spaces in Greek Village require a permit, and residents are eligible for a “P” permit through Transportation.  Purchase your permit online at Please purchase your permit BEFORE returning to campus in order to avoid tickets. Your vehicle should only be parked in a marked space.  Pulling in-between the houses and turning on your flashers will NOT save you. Also, expect to get a ticket if you parked in reserved spaces. Please contact NC State Transportation at (919) 515-3424 with any questions.

All machines in Greek Village were replaced over the summer. With the new laundry fee included in your rent, all machines are set to free vend. No more searching around for quarters when you need to do the wash! Please treat these machines with care. Should you have any issues, please submit a work order request through the online work order system, and notify your CRA so that he/she can follow-up with the work order. Signage with instructions for use of the machines will be posted.  Quick tip: leave the washing machine doors open when they are not in use to avoid musty smells!

Cable and Internet

Significant upgrades were made to the cable and Internet in Greek Village over the summer, including the installation of wireless services throughout all of the houses! A new telecom hub was created. (It used to be housed in the old Pi Kappa Phi house, which was demolished over the summer.) New cables were run to each house. Telecom faceplates for network and CATV connectivity were repaired, tested, and labeled. Each house now has new network switches. In summary, you should have FANTASTIC service! You no longer need to “subscribe” to ResNet or get cable hooked up for your room when you move in, as access should be “all on.”  Please note: If you or your chapter had installed a wireless router in the house, it has been disconnected and should no longer be used, as any additional routers in the house can interfere with the University system.  More information on services and troubleshooting is available online.

Early Move-In Requests

Beginning on August 1, residents with University Room Agreements may request to move in early through MyPack Portal at a rate of $30 per day. We may not be able to accommodate all requests, depending on the status of renovation projects throughout Greek Village this summer. The following chapters are eligible for early move-in requests:

All requests must be submitted NO LESS than two (2) business days prior to your desired move-in date. These requests must through an approval process, including organization and Department of Greek Life approvals. You will receive a confirmation via email if your requested move-in date is approved. Please DO NOT show up expecting to move in early if you do not receive a confirmation. We will continue to monitor the work progress at Alpha Tau Omega, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Sigma Kappa; however, it is unlikely that these projects will be completed and the houses reset before August 10. Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, and Sigma Nu lease structures do not allow for early move-in.

Had a change of plans?  Finding another member of the chapter to buy out your agreement and/or approval of the Chapter President may result in reduced termination fees. Cancellation charges are calculated by date and listed onlineTo initiate the process, you must submit a cancellation request through MyPack Portal. The request is pending until approved by the Chapter President and Greek Life.  An email will be sent confirming the cancellation request is approved.

That’s It

On behalf of the staff at the Department of Greek Life, we look forward to seeing you and beginning another great year. Go Greek! Go Pack!
