Sigma Nu - The Final Countdown
Greek Village Menu
During November, construction crews began adding the finishing touches to the Sigma Nu fraternity house. The house should be complete by mid-December and is slated for a January 2014 opening for the spring semester.
Crews completed the floors, including staining and adding carpet and vinyl composition tile (VCT). They are finishing painting, cabinetry and wood trim next month. Elevator installation and telecommunication wiring is also in the final phases and will provide phone, internet and cable TV access for residents in each room.
Outside, crews completed landscaping the fraternity house yard. They added fresh sod, new bushes and mulch to define the outdoor space. Gutters, downspouts and sidewalks were also finished to give the exterior a clean and polished look.
A black granite plaque with the Greek Sigma Nu letters is set in the pavers to mark the front entrance of the new fraternity house. A rock set in pavers on the left of the entrance was also completed this month. In the rear of the house, crews finished assembling the stairs leading to the balcony and the decorative railings.
The Beta Tau chapter house includes a library, activity room, alumni room, study and living space for 37 men in addition to the dining room and kitchen. The new house will also be LEED certified, one of the only fraternity houses in the nation to do so. Sustainable features include an energy-efficient HVAC system and lighting, recycled materials and low VOC paints.
