On February 5, student leaders and staff members from the Department of Greek Life boarded a charter bus and traveled more than 650 miles to attend the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Central Leadership Conference and National Black Greek Leadership Conference (AFLV/NBGLC) in Indianapolis, Ind.
These two combined conferences educate and facilitate discussion between many of the nation's undergraduate Greek-letter organization leaders from colleges and universities, primarily throughout the Midwest and the South. More than 3,000 students and advisors were in attendance.
Council leaders from each of NC State’s four Greek Councils participated in the many presentations and activities offered throughout the weekend. Some highlights of the conference included Graduate Advisor Shane Taylor's presentation on the struggles and triumphs of being a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council at a predominantly white institution and Interim Director Shelly Brown Dobek's presentation on “motivating the middle” and the history of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Our student leaders and advisors also participated in the annual NBGLC Stroll Competition. Watch our team dominate at the Stroll Competition!
Our student leaders and advisors brought back many ideas and information to share and continue growing and improving our Greek Life Community. Congratulations on a job well done to Shane Taylor and Shelly Brown Dobek on their conference presentations and to the participants in our Stroll Competition performance!
