Gregg Museum of art & design
Education

The Gregg Museum of Art & Design’s Education Department was created in 2000. This department is directly responsible for coordinating the academic use of the Gregg Museum of Art & Design’s collections. The Curator for Educational Resources works directly with the faculty of North Carolina State University to arrange tours of the collection, the use of particular collection objects in courses across the campus and the development of academic relationships between faculty and the staff of the Gregg. The Curator is currently in the process of creating a Curricular Connections program in addition to working with faculty across NC State’s broad range of academic disciplines. These are but two of the many ways the Curator continually seeks new and innovative ways to further establish the Gregg Museum of Art & Design as an integral research and learning resource on the NCSU campus.

If you have any questions or need additional information about educational opportunities and programming at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, you can contact the Curator of Educational Resources here.

The Education Department is also responsible for planning and implementing programming that serves to educate the University community and beyond about the Gregg’s collection, exhibitions and art & design in general. The Gregg Museum of Art & Design’s Artists & Objects Series is one example of this type of programming. Artists and Objects is a series of discussions that focuses on the Gregg Museum of Art & Design’s permanent collection and exhibitions. Guest artists, scholars, and members of the community join the slate of distinguished speakers for this series. Beginning in September, Gallery Talks will be scheduled on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm in the Gregg Museum of Art & Design. As as always, these events are free and open to the general public.

Interning at the Gregg

Internships and Volunteer Opportunities

The Gregg Museum of Art & Design offers internship opportunities for University students from all academic levels and disciplines. These internships are unpaid and completed for course credit. Please contact your academic advisor or Zoe Starling at the Gregg to discuss internship opportunities. These opportunities are not limited to NCSU students alone. If your institution participates in inter-institutional registration with NCSU, you are welcome to pursue an internship with the Gregg Museum of Art & Design. Volunteer opportunities are also available for members of the general public.

Internship submissions for the spring 2010 semester:

A resume and cover letter should be submitted by November 2, 2009, to the Curator of Education, Zoe Starling (zoe_starling@ncsu.edu).
