Internships
GTI offers two ways of doing short-term internships for international students: the GTN - Internship program and the GTC - Cooperative Education Certificate program. Some students may also want to consider the GTR - Research program. This chart gives a breakdown of the differences between each program. Important Links

Note: The GTN - Internship program is the preferred means of short-term international students coming to NC State for internships. The GTR - Research program is appropriate only when there will be bona fide research the student will undertake. |

It is vital that GTC, GTN and GTR students meet with the GTI Coordinator and NC State's Foreign National Tax Specialist in the first 1-2 days at NC State in order to follow the correct procedure for receiving compensation. See Processes for Taxation of Payment for a Foreign National (Student - Temporary Employment) for the steps that each party must take.
