Marianne Turnbul, HSD, C.H.E.S.
Director, Health Promotion
 
Dr. Turnbull received her Health Sciences Doctorate from Indiana University and has been with NC State for 29 years. She team teaches PEH 335, Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence, the training course for the Women to Women and Men's Program, student outreach programs on violence prevention at NCSU. She supervises the Women's Program. She specializes in sexual assault, relationship violence and stress management. Other responsibilities include administrative tasks and committee assignments. She is a RAD (Rape Aggression/Defense) Instructor, and is certified as a Health Education Specialist and ACE Personal Trainer.

Stephanie Sobol, MA Ed, ACE Certified

Mrs. Sobol received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University in Health Education. She team teaches PEH 375, Health Programming and Planning, a core class for the newly established Health Minor. Her areas of expertise include human sexuality, fitness and nutrition. She coordinates both the Health Improvement Program (HIP) and Fit for U program as an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer. She is available for STD prevention counseling as well as general fitness and nutrition counseling, guest lecturing, and other programming on campus. Other responsibilities include marketing, promotional design, committee representation and web enhancement.

Mrs. Stephanie Sobol
Chris Austin, Ed.D., CSAPC

Substance Abuse Prevention
 
Dr. Austin, an NC State Alum, coordinates alcohol and drug education on campus, which includes NC State's social norming campaign as well as mandatory Alcohol and Drug Education classes. He chairs the CAMPUS Community Coalition, a committee of campus and community representatives addressing alcohol-related issues, and he also chairs the ACTION Committee, sponsor of The BIG Event. Dr. Austin also specializes in smoking cessation. In addition, he assists students who want an individual alcohol and/or other drug screening, or those interested in more information for any reason.  He is available for stress management and alcohol and other drug presentations.

Brenda Lawrence, B.S.
Program Assistant
 

Brenda received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Professional Writing Certificate from NC State. Brenda serves as webmaster for Student Health Services and office manager for Health Promotion. She assists with updating policies and procedures and divides her time between Health Promotion and Administration. Brenda also supervises community service workers, directs students to services and resources and assists in developing and procuring promotional materials.
