Marianne Turnbul, HSD, C.H.E.S.
Director, Health Promotion
 
Dr. Turnbull received her Health Science Doctorate from Indiana University and holds a Master's in counseling from Central Michigan University. She has been with NC State for 31 years. She serves as Department Administrator and on campus committees. She supports P.A.C.K. PEERS, a student group, and teaches PEH 335, Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence, a part of the Health Minor curriculum. The course provides the training for the outreach programs Women to Women and the Men's Program. Students may join P.A.C.K. PEERS if they enjoy this outreach role on campus. She is a RAD (Rape Aggression/Defense) Instructor, a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Health Education Specialist.

Stephanie Sobol, MA Ed, ACE Certified

Mrs. Sobol received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University in Health Education. Her areas of expertise include human sexuality, fitness and nutrition. She chairs the HealthySTATE Task Force and coordinates the Fit for U program and Choose T.W.O. (a weight loss support group for students) as an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer She is available for STD prevention counseling, general fitness and nutrition counseling, guest lecturing, and other programming on campus relevant to healthy living. Other responsibilities include marketing, promotional design, committee representation and web enhancement.

Dr. Austin, an NC State Alum, coordinates alcohol and drug education on campus, which includes NC State's social norming campaign and mandatory Alcohol and Drug Education classes. He chairs the CAMPUS Community Coalition, a committee of campus and community representatives addressing alcohol-related issues, and the ACTION Committee, sponsor of The BIG Event. Dr. Austin also specializes in smoking cessation. In addition, he assists students who want an individual alcohol and/or other drug screening, or those interested in more information for any reason.  He is available for stress management and alcohol and other drug presentations.

Brenda Lawrence, B.S.
Office Manager
 

Brenda received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned the Professional Writing Certificate from NC State in June 2006 and completed NCSU's Summer Institute in May 2008. Brenda serves as webmaster for Student Health Services, office manager for Health Promotion, and community service supervisor. Within her role, she assists with online-supplemented courses, directs students to services and resources, and develops and procures promotional materials. Her time is shared between Health Promotion and Student Health Services Administration.
