Students
can work with Health Promotion in any of the following ways to improve
their skills and gain valuable experience for personal and professional
growth.
Internships
Students can work as an intern within Health Promotion to gain valuable
professional and personal skills that add value to a resume. Previous
interns have come to us with a background in Health Education, Counseling,
Public Health, Marketing and Communication. If your major differs
from those just mentioned, please contact us. We may be able to use
your skills and talents. Most internships are unpaid.
Volunteering
Health Promotion gladly welcomes students interested in volunteering
time in the area of health and wellness. Volunteers may be trained
in specialty areas to assist with outreach, create written materials,
design posters or ads, and/or help us organize special events on
campus. This will not just look good on a resume but will be a fun,
gratifying learning experience as well.
Peer Education
Peer Education is students learning from other students. Peer Health Educators are responsible, enthusiastic, dedicated student leaders who provide workshops, facilitate discussions, and sponsor campus events. Programs can include formal presentations, role-play scenarios, interactive games and informational table booths. For more information and a downloadable application form click here.
Class Credit
If you are interested in health and wellness and need free elective
credit we can help. We offer class credit for 1, 2, or 3 hours.
Your class assignments will focus around your interests, your skills
and areas you would like to enhance your knowledge . Please ask
your department about independent study opportunities with our department.
