eating helps maintain a healthy body weight as well as improve energy,
concentration, and academic success. Unfortunately, during college
it is common for our eating habits to decline (snacking late, eating
more, not drinking enough water, etc.) but they do not have to. Balancing
your diet with the proper nutrients and activity will together promote
better health.
In the United States, we are eating more and exercising less. As
a result, over 66% of the adult population (age 18 and older) are
overweight; over a third of which are obese. North Carolina ranks
12th in the nation for obesity. Obesity is a risk factor for many
diseases, such as heart disease, some cancers and diabetes. You
can take action to prevent from becoming a statistic.
