| Insomnia
is the inability to sleep or to sleep satisfactorily. Nearly 50% of
Americans suffer from some type of sleep disorder. Insomnia is the
most common.
Common Signs
- Difficulty sleeping
- Waking up frequently during the night with difficulty falling
back to sleep
- Waking up before the alarm sounds
- Waking not feeling refreshed
Types of Insomnia

lasts for one night or a few weeks |
| Intermittent |
occurs from time to time |
| Chronic |
occurs most nights and lasts a month or longer |

- Depression

- Stress
- Environmental noise
- Extreme temperatures
- Change in surrounding
- Medication side effects
- Disruption in sleep-wake routine (i.e. travel)
