Dr. Timothy Hinton

Timothy Hinton is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at NC State University. After high school, he studied law and politics at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. From there, he went to Oxford where he received a graduate degree in philosophy. He came to the US in 1991 and graduated with a PhD in philosophy from MIT five years later. He has taught at NC State since 1996 and was a visiting professor at Cornell University between 2003 and 1005. Dr Hinton has received several awards including a Fulbright Placement Scholarship and a Charlotte Newcombe Award. He has been a member of the NC State Academy of Outstanding Teachers since 2008 and has published nearly a dozen papers in philosophy journals.
