  Professor
Jeff Leiter is a professor of sociology and associate head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.. He has been on the NC State faculty since 1978. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate students, primarily about work, organizations, and the economy. He has done research on a wide range of topics, including teacher autonomy, textile workers' attitudes, elementary school tracking and grading, organizational survey methods, the consequences of child abuse and neglect, nonprofit organizations, and government unions. Away from the university, he is active in Raleigh's civic life and helps organize the annual Cary Cross Currents Chamber Music Arts Festival.
