Statement
of Purpose
The
University Honors Program (UHP) Ambassadors are
the public representatives of the University Honors
Program. UHP Ambassadors are a select group of
skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated students
who are passionate about the University Honors
Program. UHP Ambassadors serve as the link between
the University Honors Program, the campus community
and prospective students and families. UHP Ambassadors
are committed to promoting the mission of the UHP
by promoting research, scholarship, outreach, and

Qualifications
Needed
- Current
UHP student in good academic standing (i.e. successfully
progressing through the program by satisfying
HON requirements and maintaining a 3.25 cumulative
GPA)
- Completed
at least one semester as a UHP student
- Completed
at least one HON seminar
- Possess
leadership potential (i.e. verbally articulate,
organization skills, motivated)
- Enthusiastic
and knowledgeable about the UHP (i.e. understands
the goals and mission of the University Honors
Program)
- Clean
judicial record
UHP
Ambassador Program Expectations
- A
minimum of one academic year of service as a
UHP Ambassador
- Attend
a training session in each semester
- Assist
with the NC State Open House
- Contribute
a minimum of 10 UHP-related service hours per
semester (i.e. College Open House programs, Spend-a-Day
programs, recruitment events, high school college
recruitment events, New Student Orientation,
UHP Village tours, UHP phone-a-thons, UHP Seminar
Fair, UHP Honors Convocation)
- Assist
with UHP Parent Weekend events
- Assist
with UHP Spend-a-Day Program
- Perform
5 hours of community service per semester (UHP
endorsed educational outreach initiatives that
support public schools of Wake County and surrounding
areas)
- Maintain
a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA
- Maintain
a positive and professional attitude
- Willingness
to provide input to further develop and expand
the UHP Ambassador Program

Timeline
- For
the inaugural year, applications will be solicited
during the Fall Semester (selections will be
made during the Fall semester)
- After
the inaugural year applications will be solicited
during the Spring Semester (selections will be
made before the end of the Spring Semester) for
the upcoming academic year
- Prospective
Ambassadors will meet briefly one-on-one with
the UHP Ambassador Program Coordinator to discuss
program requirements and commitment
