Credit for Research or Independent Study

 

You may earn research or independent study credit for individual or group work performed under faculty supervision. Research is defined as discovery-, inquiry- or creativity-based learning. It may be conducted in a laboratory, art studio, field site, or any setting in which scholarly pursuit of new knowledge occurs.

 

Study may occur at NC State or elsewhere, so long as it is supervised by

 

1) a member of the faculty at NC State or

2) a member of the faculty at another university, or

3) someone in government or private industry who is approved by a member of the faculty at NC State.

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Program
 

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Program at NC State is pleased to offer a two-year undergraduate research experience for students in the life sciences and life science-related areas.

 

The program allows an undergraduate to work with a faculty mentor on a research project and to receive monetary support for academic year and summer activities. North Carolina State University’s Department of Zoology is searching for rising Juniors with a research interest in the field of life sciences.
