What is a Village?

NC State’s Living and Learning Villages are interested-based living communities that engage students both inside and outside the classroom. Villages provide an unparalleled living experience where you’ll make life-long friends and immerse yourself in the NC State community

Why Live in a Village?

  • Academic success starts here! Students living in Villages have a higher GPAs than those who don’t live in a Village.
  • Involvement in NC State starts here! 68% of Village residents are freshmen.
  • Get on the fast track to graduation. Four-year graduation rates of students participating in a Village  are higher than the university average.

Apply

If you’re interested in living in a Village, complete a Village application in addition to your Housing Application. You must first submit your Housing Application. Then you should complete a Village application for the Village(s) of your choice. Complete your application in MyPack Portal!   

FAQs Answered

  • There is no additional cost to participate in a Village.
  • Honors and Scholars Villages are by invitation only. If you are invited to participate in either of these programs, you can opt to live in the Village. Students in these two programs do not have to live in the Village, but it is highly recommended. Accept your Village invitation through MyPack Portal.
  • Students admitted into the First Year College Village (FYC) are automatically approved and do not need to complete an application. Students admitted to the FYC must live in Owen or Tucker halls. Exceptions to this requirement can be requested.
