A Welcome Message from IRC President Wesley Lo

Dear Campus Resident,

Welcome to University Housing! We are glad that you will be spending this year on campus in an environment that is inclusive and supportive of academic, intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

Living on campus is a great opportunity to interact with other students, faculty, staff, and campus resources. Our leadership teams in the residence halls and University Apartments provide many opportunities for residents through educational, social, lifestyle, diversity, and academic programs. If you are interested in being a part of the leadership teams, join your hall council or IRC.

The Inter-Residence Council (IRC) is a residential resource organization that focuses on improving the experience for anyone living on campus. We are comprised of residential student leaders who advocate for student concerns to administrators, support programs in the campus community, and create events that make NC State a great place to live. In short, our job is to make living on campus awesome. This year, IRC is challenging members to define and gain ownership of their leadership skills.

IRC will be hosting two traditional events during Wolfpack Welcome Week. Chillin' & Grillin' where the IRC officers will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs out on Tucker/Owen Beach on Tuesday, August 14th from 5-7 p.m. The other event is Silent Disco on Friday, August 17th from 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. in the Talley Ballroom. Dueling DJs broadcast their mix to wireless headphones each participant receives upon entry.

Be sure to check out other Wolfpack Welcome Week activities during August 8 - 18. I know you will find numerous activities that you will not want to miss. One of the benefits of attending a large institution is the many organizations we have; over 600 active clubs and organizations. Check them out during Wolfpack Welcome Week and through the Student Organization Resource Center.

Once you get to campus and have a question, a problem, or need assistance, ask your RA! They're very prepared to help you be successful here at NC State. We can't wait to see you at events during Wolfpack Welcome Week. Again, welcome to University Housing and IRC cannot wait to see you get involve this year!
