Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowships Applications

Posted: August 31, 2012

Applications for the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowships opened earlier this summer, with an early decision deadline of October 22, 2012 and a final deadline of January 21, 2013. These fellowships are available to graduating seniors (bachelor’s degree by June 30, 2013) who have majored in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics); recent grads and longer-term alumni are also eligible. The WW Teaching Fellowships prepare outstanding candidates to teach math and science in high-need high schools in one of the three currently participating states—Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio—but applicants from all states are welcome. The award is $30,000, and the program encompasses not only master’s-level preparation but also mentoring throughout the first three years of teaching.

A qualified Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship applicant should:

  • have majored in and/or have a strong professional background in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field;
  • demonstrate a commitment to the program and its goals;
  • have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency;
  • have attained, or expect to attain by June 30, 2013, a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university;

A cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale is strongly preferred*.

*Note: Candidates who can demonstrate excellence through other avenues will also be considered. All applications are considered in their entirety and selection is based on merit.
