Summer Conference Assistants help conference attendees get checked-in for their conference.
Conference Services
When students leave for summer break, some might assume that the University Housing office becomes a quiet, peaceful oasis. In reality, summer is one of our busiest seasons. For 13 short weeks each summer, our Conference and Guest Services team works tirelessly to accommodate more than 75 summer camps and workshops, housing more than 10,000 guests including at least 100 interns in our residence halls and apartments.
“University Housing strives to develop a holistic and well-rounded student,” said Chris Dobek, Assistant Director of Conference and Guest Services. “Developing that student starts at a young age - when they are attending educational, experiential, or athletic camps at NC State. If we can give them a positive experience while on campus – hopefully they’ll look to become future students.”
Conference services is available to both NC State-affiliated and non-affiliated groups. From housing-only packages to becoming your on-campus, “one-stop shop”, we can help with all your conference needs. Services include on-site and pre-registration assistance, off-site rentals, as well as dining, catering, and parking; we’ve got you covered! During the summer, we employ more than 40 Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) who help provide seamless customer service and hands-on assistance to our guests. If you are interested in hosting a summer event at NC State, call (919) 515-4398 or visit our website.
“Our mission is to provide high quality experiences that meet the needs of all our unique guests,” adds Lynne Barbour, manager of conference and guest services. “Fifty percent of the conferences return from summer to summer due to our commitment to provide quality service to you and your guests.”
Guest Accommodations
Hopefully, we’ve piqued your interest about our conference services - but are you aware that we run a full-service, “motel-like” operation for visiting guests and scholars?
