Early Check-in
Check-in Menu
The option to arrive on campus prior to the first day of check-in August 14, 2009 is only available to:
- Students who are a member of a University-sponsored group or involved in opening activities
- Individual students who submit requests and receive approval
Special note: Students who are assigned to live in Turlington or Alexander Residence Hall for the fall semester are NOT permitted to check in early and may move in only during normal check-in dates.
Indivdual students residing in a Residence Hall that check-in prior to August 14 must pay a daily charge of $25 per person per day. Charges will be billed to your student account during the first few weeks of the semester.
Where to Check In
All check-ins prior to August 14 will occur at the service desks listed below unless special permission has been given.
East Residential Area
- For North, Watauga, Gold, Welch, Syme, Becton, Berry, and Bagwell Halls, go to the Honors Village 24-hour service desk.
- For Avent Ferry, go to Avent Ferry 24-hour service desk (Building D).
- For Wood Hall, go to Wood Hall 24-hour service desk (Building C).
Central Residential Area
- For Tucker and Owen Halls, go to the 24-hour service desk located in the First Year College Commons.
- For Bowen, Carroll and Metcalf Halls, go to the Metcalf 24-hour service desk in the lobby.
West Residential Area
- For Bragaw Hall, go to the Bragaw 24-hour service desk in the lobby.
- For Lee Hall, go to the Lee 24-hour service desk in the lobby.
- For Sullivan, go to the Sullivan 24-hour service desk in the lobby.
Hours for Early Check-in
- Tuesday, August 11: 1-4pm
- Wednesday, August 12: 1-4pm
- Thursday, August 13: 1-4pm
Early Check-in for Members of an Approved Organization or Group
To verify that you are a member of an approved group, log in to the MyPack Portal, then select the student tab>Campus Life>University Housing>Early Check-in.
- If you are approved, you will see a message with several important links. Please be sure to read the message and visit all the links.
- If your name does not appear on the approved list, a message will be displayed with the name and contact number of the sponsor.

- IRC/NRHH
- Marching Band
- Park Scholars - new freshmen only
- ResNet Consultants
- SAY Village
- Study Abroad First-time Exchange Students
- Symposium Counselors
- Symposium Participants
- Teaching Fellows
- Technician
- Union Activities Board
- University Scholars Village Assistants
- WISE Village
- Wolfpack Movers
If your organization is not listed above, have the organization or group sponsor contact the Housing office at (919) 515-2440.
Early Check-in for Individual Students
All individual students requesting to arrive prior to August 14 must complete the Early Check-in Reservation via the MyPack Portal.
Once you have completed the Early Check-in Reservation and submit it, the form will be e-mailed to the appropriate staff member who will review the request. You will be notified within 48 hours of receipt of your request whether or not it has been approved.
Please Note: Requests to move in early on the same day the Early Check In Reservation is submitted may not be honored.
